Suzy Amis Cameron – “MUSING for the environment”

Suzy Amis Cameron developed “Red Carpet Green Dress” to stimulate sustainable design, global green education, and raise funds for the non-profit MUSE Elementary School and MUSE Global, which she founded with her sister, Rebecca Amis.

As a model, actress, environmental champion, educational activist, wife of  Academy Award winner, James Cameron, and the mother of five children, Suzy’s unique life experience formed the creation of this contest with a deep sense of purpose. “Red Carpet Green Dress provides an amazing opportunity to aspiring designers and perfectly connects to MUSE’s global green philosophy by applying environmental awareness to our everyday lives,” said Amis Cameron.

Introduced by Eileen Ford on the Merv Griffin show in 1979 as the “Face of the Eighties,” Suzy moved to Paris at 17 and lived there for 3 1/2 years.  She travelled around the globe doing runway shows for top designers, including Ralph Lauren, Kenzo and Perry Ellis and being photographed by such renowned photographers as Herb Ritz, Patrick Demarchelier and Peter Lindberg for Vogue, Bazaar, Elle and other leading fashion magazines.

Many of these trips exposed her to the harsh realities of life in poverty and disease stricken countries.  The impression was indelible. The world of high fashion stood in stark contrast to what she saw on those trips.

MUSE Elementary and MUSE Global, with their emphasis on respecting each child, the self, others and the environmnent, grew out of these experiences.  Suzy’s abiding passion is to promote the wellbeing of children around the world. She hopes that Red Carpet Green Dress will use the international language of fashion to begin a dialogue of healing for humankind and the planet.
